Progress Update:
September 15, 2007
I stopped by late in the afternoon on
Monday the 10th after not having seen the trailer
since the previous weekend. While still not
complete, it looked like a trailer and was mostly
assembled, with the suspension, wheels, tires, arms,
and other equipment in place and more or less ready
to work. |

By Friday morning,
Steve had the trailer completed to a point where he
wanted to use it on a few smaller hauls that he had
scheduled, and asked if I wanted to ride along.
While there were still details remaining to complete
the trailer, it was 100% functional, and needed the
trial runs to highlight any bugs or other issues
with any of the new equipment.
The trailer worked
great, but the day did highlight a few minor issues
to take care of, mostly with the way the articulated
pads worked; they tended to flop over undesirably
when the trailer was submerged, complicating the
loading of boats from the water. Steve had a
fix in mind for this and would take care of it
before final delivery.
Work remaining at
this point was limited to finalizing these small
details, and completing the installation of the
systems before delivery. The paperwork is
filed with the state for the new VIN number, and now
we just have to wait for the wheels of bureaucracy
to grind slowly to their eventual destination before
we can finalize the deal.
Here are a few
photos of the trailer as of 9/14/07, out of the shop
and hitched behind Steve's tractor. |

After some delays
related to various bureaucratic causes, I finally
picked up the trailer on October 17, 2007.
