Progress Update:
August 25, 2007
Plenty happened on the trailer this
week, but from a visual standpoint the progress
looked minimal.
Most of the work
revolved around the details, like bending and
installing the rigid steel lines for the air and
hydraulic systems. These lines are all
internal; eventually, the entire interior of the
trailer frame will be sealed and oil-filled (or
inert gas-filled) for corrosion protection.
To that end, there
are also some new pockets in the trailer frame near
the suspension components, where the air and
hydraulic fittings can be attached to the internal
piping. And the control ends of these lines
project through the trailer frame forward.
In terms of major
frame work, Steve got the A-frame portion of the
front of the frame welded in place. The
suspension components, tacked temporarily in place
last week, were removed for final cleanup and paint
before final installation. |
