First on the day's agenda was a heavy-sand for the bottom, using coarse paper to smooth the surface and remove any loose or flaking paint.  The bottom was in pretty good condition and the coatings well adhered in general, but the old buildup was thick and a bit lumpy, so this process would provide a better base for new ablative paint.  Afterwards, I swept, vacuumed, and rinsed as needed.

Next, I washed all the exterior teak trim with water and wood brightener to remove dirt and weathering, the first step towards refninshing.  Then I washed the deck and hull with detergent, removing dirt and staining, leaving things overnight to dry out.
