Snow Lily | Wednesday, May 22, 2013

I received an almost overwhelming number of boxes at the shop, containing various last-minute outfitting needs (life jackets, docking lines, and miscellany), as well as hardware and fasteners needed for some of the ongoing jobs, specifically the two tables and the woodstove heat shielding, plus several boxes filled with some of the components required to complete the electric motor installation, including the 48-volt battery charger, a replacement 48-volt distribution box that covered some changes the supplier had made in the wiring setup since the initial installation, and various other components for the system, including a battery monitor system and control tablet all pre-wired through a new junction box.  A few things remained outstanding, but I'd be getting back to work on these installations shortly.

After organizing the new equipment, later in the day I cleared the decks in the shop a bit, loading on the boat some of the gear I'd been accumulating in the shop till the right time.  With the insurance survey complete, and all the main installations--specifically the batteries--at least largely complete, there was no longer any reason to keep the lockers clear, so I loaded in davit parts, ladders, fenders, lines, and safety gear--good to get out of the way for both schedule and clutter reduction.

Finally, I applied a coat of rubbed-effect satin varnish to the interior table components.
