I spent the day sanding once more, this time removing the paint from most of the cockpit surfaces. I'd not thought it possible to have more paint on a single surface than I'd seen elsewhere on deck, but in the cockpit it seemed even thicker, and equally time-consuming to remove.  But by the end of the day, I'd stripped most of the cockpit well, seating areas, and cabin trunk bulkhead; all that remained was the outer perimeter, where the wooden coamings had been secured and to which still adhered thick deposits of 5200 adhesive.  These areas would have to wait for another time.
