Snow Lily | Monday, January 9, 2012

Preparing to get started on the project, I repositioned the Tartan 34 (new name:  Snow Lily) in the center of the shop.  I'd moved her indoors a bit over a month earlier, along with another project, hoping to avoid problems later with cold and snow that could make a later reposition more difficult.  As it happened, we had virtually no snow and little cold, but in any event it was straightforward to reposition and level the boat in the shop.

Since the boat arrived here in April 2011, I'd already done a few minor preparations:  I removed the mast from the deck and de-rigged it, and, later, removed the old Atomic 4 when we thought we had someone interested in buying it (the deal fell through).  More on these past tasks later.

The boat's owner, who'd not yet seen the boat and had purchased her sight-unseen with this project in mind, was scheduled to arrive for a meeting tomorrow, when we'd discuss the project scope and the work ahead.

The first round of photos below is from April 2011, before the boat was delivered to the shop, and are intended to give a general idea of the hull's condition.

These photos are from January 9, 2012 and represent the general appearance of the decks and interior at the start of the project.

Much more to come.
