After a couple busy days constructing new staging supports and planks, I was anxious to continue the hull sanding.  To begin, I set up the new staging at an appropriate height around the boat, allowing me to comfortably reach the gunwale and upper portions of the hull.

Next, I removed the stainless steel half-oval rubrail from the gunwale.

I had to start sanding at the transom, as I was tired of the old lettering and thought it was time to make the deletion of the old name "official".  As with the other portions of the hull, I removed the layers of paint and primer with several rounds of sanding using two grits, 40 and 80.

With the transom stripped back to gelcoat, I continued my way forward along the starboard quarter, getting as far as I could before the end of the day. which wasn't quite as far as I'd hoped, but wrapping up the staging construction had taken more time than expected in the morning.
