As usual, I started with another round of sanding on the deck and hull as needed.

Afterwards, I prepared the four forward port openings for patching by grinding a tapered border around each opening to accept new fiberglass during the next steps.

In the cockpit, I cut out a small recessed gauge panel leftover from the old engine installation, and similarly prepared its opening for patching.

After cleaning up, I applied additional fairing filler to a few areas on deck, mainly in the cockpit, where I began to fair the original raised, molded deck edges in with the field areas.  The heights of these edges varied from spot to spot, leading to the variations in compound.

I applied a second round of fairing filler to the various through hull patches.

Preparing ahead,  I cut a series of 36" lengths of tabbing, 6" and 4" wide, for the hull-deck joint and set them aside for that project.
