Now that the new foundations were tacked securely in place, I could remove the various bracing and re-check the fit of the engine template.  With plywood strips standing in for the 1/2" fiberglass rails that would eventually top the foundations, I set up the template with its centering string to ensure that the foundations had ended up as I'd anticipated--just as a reality check, not to achieve perfect alignment yet.  That would come later.

After final preparations to the area, including lightly sanding away any bumps of epoxy leftover from the tack-in process, I prepared paper patterns of the tabbing that would secure the foundations to the hull, allowing for 6" overlaps onto the hull in the middle sections, and 4" on the outer sections, though the amount of space to starboard was somewhat less thanks to the nearby galley bulkhead.

I installed epoxy fillets all around the foundations where they met the hull, to fill any gaps and create smooth transitions for the fiberglass, as well as a practical shape that would be easier to keep clean in the future.  I also coated the entire surface of the foundations with resin to prepare for the tabbing ahead.

After cutting out three layers of biaxial fabric using the patterns as a guide, I wet out in epoxy and installed the new tabbing to secure the foundations well to the hull.
